Joint European Conference held by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and the European Network of Heads of Nature Conservation Agencies (ENCA)

25 - 27 June 2013, Bonn, Germany

Climate change is already affecting Europe’s ecosystems. We can expect potentially severe effects on biodiversity and ecosystem function and services in the future. The resulting challenges need to be met by appropriate action despite uncertainty about the timing and magnitude of possible climatic changes. 

This European conference will bring together experts from science, policy and practice to highlight and debate the importance of adapting to climate change in conservation from an ecological, policy and economic perspective, and will also showcase successful conservation partnerships across Europe. Following up on the discussions of the previous BfN/ENCA conference on biodiversity and climate change, held in Bonn in 2011, the conference in 2013 will go a step further and explore how adaptation can be put into practice.
