ARES
Facilitating regional cooperation on deploying and supporting renewable energy across EU Member States
The ARES project started in September 2019 and will run until the end of 2021. Its purpose is to contribute to an effective and cost-efficient deployment of renewable energy in the European Union by enhancing regional cooperation, in particular through transparency of Member States’ investment plans and policies. The coordination of renewable energy auctions is key to facilitate and achieve regional cooperation. Within this framework, the eclareon GmbH is responsible for collecting and compiling data on the plans of Member States to invest and deploy renewable energies, which will be presented on an online platform. To this end, the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) of all Member States have been reviewed. The main focus is on the existing cooperation measures between Member States (such as statistical transfers) and on the planned installed capacities of renewable energies and investments for the next decades.
