Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2015 - 2020
The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue is a provital platform which brings together international key energy sector decision makers to jointly tackle the global and local challenges of an “Energiewende”. The conference is hosted by the German Federal Foreign Office in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. It aims to stimulate an intensive dialogue that will help to learn from the global experiences of the past years - including proven solutions and best practices worldwide – as well as trigger a new global energy policy.
The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue was conceptualized and is organized by the consortium eclareon, BEE and BSW. The first Dialogue took place in Spring 2015 and attracted over 30 ministers and state secretaries from over 60 countries, with more than 900 international guests over the 2-day forum. A yearly edition of the Dialogue took place in Spring 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The sixt dialogue was following in March 2020.
The Policy Department of eclareon is especially involved in the design of the Dialogue program and the selection of the distinguished speaker. It furthermore provides for background information on European and international markets as well as on support scheme options and existing barriers for the development of renewables. Finally, members of the Policy Department are accompanying the green Energiewende sofa on its global trip. Through the green sofa, the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue wishes to liaise with several international conferences, including the COP25 in Madrid. At each stop, we are looking forward welcoming honorable international guests on the sofa for interviews and photos.
