RES Simplify

With the adoption of the recast Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) 2018/2001 the foundations have been made for a significant administrative simplification and a higher transparency of the procedures for renewable energy project promoters and project developers. However, in addition to the monitoring of the legal transposition of the RED II there will still be ample room for further improvements of the administrative procedures related to permit granting and exchanges of best practices between bodies at regional level, national level and cross border. The scope of this project is therefore the practical implementation of the articles 15, 16 and 17 of the RED II and the identification of best practices on the basis of relevant performance indicators. The project comprises the following tasks:

  • Mapping of the permit granting and grid connection procedures for renewable energy technologies in target countries and development of relevant performance indicators for Member State monitorin
  • Member State monitoring and evaluation of the national permitting procedures based on the developed performance indicators and identification of good practice
  • Dissemination and promotion of best practices including technical or logistic assistance for the uptake
  • An outline for the optimized processes and supporting IT infrastructure that are compliant with RED II
  • Drafting recommendations for policy initiatives at EU level, based on the initial monitoring of the RED II implementation
