Online information system tool for regional biomass availabilities in the EU
The online information system BASIS provides in-depth information on regional biomass supply and supply of wood chips on the basis of estimated potential and actual consumption data. The system therefore relies on the number of bioenergy plants and other wood chip consumers in respective regions. BASIS also addresses sustainability issues related to bioenergy supply by taking into consideration various environmental criteria of project developers. Finally, BASIS evaluates the efficiency of biomass usage.
The findings are displayed with the aid of a GIS-based online tool. eclareon is part of a consortium coordinated by the European Biomass Association. Other project partners are the Imperial College London and seven national biomass associations from Austria, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Sweden.
