Energiewende DE-EU
The main focus of this project is the exchange of electricity between Germany and its European neighbors and the associated interactions in Germany and selected European countries. The core of the study is a quantitative, model-based scenario analysis of the current power exchange between Germany and the neighboring countries. The aim is to examine the impact of a range of possible developments in the European electricity system on the development of the German electricity sector. Possible interactions between Germany and the neighboring European countries will be examined in various scenarios up to 2050. This will be supplemented by the following analyses: Firstly, what framework conditions are needed to actually provide the coupling capacities for the current exchange assumed in the model in the various scenarios? And second, what are the implications of the input parameters assumed for the model on the current flows between Germany and the European neighboring countries determined in the model, and how do they fit into the respective strategies for the electricity sector?
Deliverables of the project:
- Factsheets or thematic maps
- Model-supported scenarios
