Energy Union Governance
The proposal for a Regulation on the Governance of the Energy Union requires that Member States submit their draft integrated national energy and climate plans (NECPs), including national integrated projections for climate and energy, by January 1st, 2018, with the final national plans by January 1st, 2019.
The objective of this project is to contribute to a coherent and effective implementation of the Energy Union objectives (with a focus on energy and climate), specifically through supporting timely delivery of draft and final NECPs as part of the Energy Union governance.
To achieve this objective, this project:
- Establishes regular overviews of the state-of-play across all Member States in preparing their national plans, and highlights the current and upcoming Member State issues and challenges (Task 1).
- Supports Member States, who ask for Commission assistance due to technical or administrative capacity constraints, to prepare both the draft and final national plans according to the process, timeline and template detailed in the proposal for or, once adopted, the Regulation on the Governance of the Energy Union (Task 2).
