Off-grid renewable energy in Russia

Market study in the context of decentralized energy supply including renewable energies in selected Russian regions

On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the German Energy Agency (dena) coordinates a German-Russian dialogue on energy efficiency and renewable energies in order to sustainably improve the conditions for this in Russia and thus to support the development of a market.

In order to explore the potential of cooperation between Russian regions and German companies in the renewable energy sector, dena held a workshop in November 2017 in Berlin with representatives of the ministries, the associations of the renewable energy industry, companies and representatives of Russian regions. In the course of the event it became clear that the segment for smaller, decentralized and off-grid capacities in the regions has hardly been developed to date and there is hardly any information about the potential market and the local investment conditions.

In order to further explore business potential for German companies, dena has commissioned an analysis of decentralized energy supply from off-grid areas in five selected regions to IP Kekelidze and EUROSOLAR Russia. The results of the analysis will be presented to representatives of German companies in the solar industry during a workshop in Berlin in December. eclareon's business consulting team supports the Russian partners in terms of study design, evaluation of surveys in the five regions, project profitability calculations, and the preparation and presentation of study results.
