Renewable energies for Kaliningrad

Preliminary study about expanding the potential for renewable energies in Kaliningrad

Renewable energies are rare in Russia despite great potential the country’s resources provide. In German side the use of renewable energies in the electricity sector is commonplace. Of course, the German way of developing renewable energies cannot simply be transferred to Russia. However, German research institutes and consulting companies, which have accompanied the German energy transition from its start and are therefore familiar with the initial difficulties of introducing renewable energies, can support Russia in its endeavor to expand its renewable capacities.

In the course of this, eclareon, the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy Systems IEE and the Higher School of Economics in Moscow conducted a study to determine the potential in expanding renewable energies. In the course of this, on-site wind energy and PV projects were analyzed and a study trip to Kaliningradtook place with a workshop.
