Assessment of integrating electricity from renewable energy sources to the electricity grid and to the electricity market in the 27 EU Member States – RES-INTEGRATION
On behalf of DG Energy of the European Commission eclareon and Öko-Institut performed a thorough research, analysis and assessment of the processes and barriers related to the integration of RES-E into the Member States’ grids and markets. In particular, the consortium assessed Member States' implementation of article 16 of the EU's Renewable Energy Directive. In regards to the integration of renewables into the grids, eclareon analyzed issues in the context of grid connection, grid operation and grid development. With respect to the integration of renewables in the markets, Öko-Institut considered the respective market and support scheme design. Results were delivered in form of 27 individual assessments of conditions in the EU Member States as well as in a European overview report, analyzing the situation in the EU as a whole.
Regarding grid integration, eclareon analysed issues in the context of grid connection, grid operation and grid development. With respect to the integration of renewables in the markets, Öko-Institut considered the respective market and support scheme design.
The deliverables of this project are:
