Seveso-II-project - Recommendations for distances between industrial sites covered by the Major Accidents Ordinance and areas of particular natural sensitivity or interest - Implementation of the German Federal Pollution Control Act § 50 and Article 12 of the Seveso-II-Directive

On behalf of the Working Group Nature (AG - Nature) under the Commission on Process Safety (KAS) at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) eclareon GmbH examines in a consortium with ecologic Institute and the environmental foundation Global Nature Fund the implementation of Article 12 of the Seveso II Directive in selected European countries. The project focuses on the obligation of the Member States to maintain an appropriate distance between operating areas regulated under the Seveso II Directive and natural areas of particular interest or sensitivity. The research concentrates on the extent to which this problem has already been addressed in other European countries.

Deliverables within this project are country reports and a final assessment on the state of the art of the implementation of article 12, paragraph 1, subparagraph 2 of the Seveso II Directive in France, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
