Sunna Kokkonen works as consultant in the eclareon Policy Department. She is responsible for the research and analysis of climate policies, as well as for questions regarding the framework conditions for renewable energies in Finland. Sunna is a native Finnish speaker, has a near-native fluency in English, and is fluent in German and Spanish. She also has good command of Swedish and North Sámi, and basic knowledge of Norwegian.
Sunna Kokkonen is responsible for the Finnish portfolio in the Renewables Networking Platform and the AURES II project, as well as some upcoming projects.
Before joining the eclareon policy team, Sunna has gained experience in working in various fields: intergovernmental organizations, journalism and the private sector. She has worked as a freelance and part-time journalist for various magazines and newspapers both in Finland and abroad since 2016. She has served as an intern at the Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat (2019) and the International Barents Secretariat (2016). In addition, she has experience with project and event management from organising international culture events as the Chair of the Barents Regional Youth Council.
Sunna holds a Master of Laws in European and International Law with a specialization in public international law (Tilburg University, the Netherlands). She is about to finish her MA in International Relations (Central European University, Hungary/Austria) in summer 2020, focusing on climate policy and theory.
